Edit: NOOOOO this was supposed to publish on 1/31 and it didn’t. I just now realized that! So here are some super late stats on my 2023 reading.
A while ago I shared my “best of 2023” on Instagram, but I never shared my 2023 wrap-up pie charts here.
I didn’t set any specific goals for 2023, so I’m glad to see that I still ended up being fairly diverse. I read more than 20% BIPOC authors, in spite of rereading one million Agatha Christies and Georgette Heyers.
I read more than 25% nonfiction, which is my highest total ever! And a pretty big change from the lady who read maybe 3% nonfiction a decade or so ago.
Romance was my highest genre, like last year, but mystery almost caught it. So glad to finally be able to handle a little fictional tension again… at least till election season totally ramps up ha.
As usual, I’m still a library gal! This year I split up ‘owned’ (before 2023) and ‘purchased’ (books I bought in 2023) to see how many I read off my own shelves. The answer is… not many at all. Whoops.
I read mostly via audiobook. It’s just so much more convenient to be able to read a book while I’m also cleaning or driving or whatever!
How about you? Most read genre? Most read format?
Great stats! I love all the pie charts.
Ok, the distinction between owned/purchased is super helpful! I need to add that to my own StoryGraph tags. I intended to focus on books I already owned in 2023 and it did not go well. So I am intending to double down in 2024… but I’m only 3/10 so far. 🤣🤣🤣
