Hello there! I realized I skipped all of July, and *almost* all of August, but I’m sneaking in a last minute newsletter for you.
It has been a SUMMER in the Howard household. I got diagnosed with seven food allergies, and then when trying to cut those out of my diet, I got severe acid reflux. So badly so, that I literally couldn’t talk for a week.
Got on a prescription for that, and am trying to figure out a balance between eating for my throat and my allergies.
Then, due to lots of things (not all my story to share), I also started taking anti-anxiety medication, which is one of the better choices I’ve made lately!
But if you’re keeping track, yes between allergies and acid reflux and anxiety… I’m now taking a half dozen pills every day. It seems like a LOT of medicine. It’s making my throat and my nose and my brain way happier though. So, shrug. I’ll embrace it for this season I guess.
I’ll hopefully have some more bookish content for you soon. But, in the meantime… here are some pictures from our DELIGHTFUL family vacation to the PNW in July. It was truly the highlight of the summer.
(Also - I need to know - do you also feel weird about taking too much medicine?? I’m trying to decide if this is childhood brainwashing or what.)
I think if the medication is working for you, then it’s not “too much” but the right amount. And hopefully you can find a good balance between your allergies and acid reflux.
Great photos! I used to live in Bremerton—right across from Seattle and loved going to Bainbridge or taking the ferry to Seattle.
I feel like the medication thing is a hangover from previous generations. I’ve had so many patients “brag” about NEVER going to a doctor and not taking medications. Meanwhile their work up shows major bad things because of that. It does seem like a hard though process to break though.
