It has been astonishing to me this last couple of months as I read a diversity of titles - including numerous thrillers and sci fi novels - to realize how stuck in the romance genre Iโd gotten.
I still read a couple of romances this month (and enjoyed them) - but Iโm really enjoying reading widely again. I didnโt realize quite how one-note my anxiety had made my reading until I got in a better headspace!
Highlights for me this month were Life in Five Senses (which I gushed about) and getting back into the Chronicles of St. Maryโs series, along with other members of the #readingjoditaylor group on Instagram.
I finished four delightful short stories โ The Battersea Barricades (#9.5), The Steam Pump Jump (#9.6), And Now for Something Completely Different (#9.7), and When Did You Last See Your Father (#10.5) โ although I only counted The Steam Pump Jump in my totals, since I figured the stories equaled about 1 book.
And I read *almost* 2 full books - Hope for the Best (#10) and nearly all of Plan for the Worst (#11) - although I finished that one in the wee hours of 4/1, so it will be on my April totals. They were both fantastic!
If youโve never read Jodi Taylor; St. Maryโs is a rollicking series about rather inept historians who โstudy historic events in contemporary timeโ (time travel). Theyโre hilarious but also quite historically informative! DEFINITELY read the series in order though; it would be very hard to jump in partway.
What have YOUR reading highlights been?
I read five books in March. The standouts where: Once There Were Wolves, which I loved. And The Last Thing He Told Me, which I very much enjoyed even though there were a few things that seemed above belief. Looking forward to the series from that book.
Iโm currently pushing Heather Fawcettโs Grace of the Wild Things and Emily Wildeโs Encyclopaedia of Faeries onto everyone. They were my FAVORITE books I read in March. And now I want to complete her backlist
